The Lactation Resource Midwife supports all women wishing to breastfeed across the facility. Particular emphasis is given to providing antenatal women with breastfeeding education, establishing and maintaining breastfeeding post- partum, and giving parents adequate information on infant nutrition, child development and safety. Communication with the mother and her family is promoted in order to prepare them for discharge and to give them awareness of local community based support.
Current nursing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Authority to Practice Midwifery
Current International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants certification (IBCLC) or working towards.
Relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and time management skills
Effective group facilitation & education skills
Demonstrated ability to deliver holistic nursing and midwifery care
Demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development
A high level of computer literacy
