We are looking for an enthusiastic cardiac technician to join our busy and organized private cardiology practice. We are specifically interested in a cardiac technician with skills in adult and pediatric patient experience, exercise stress echocardiography.

The Canberra Heart Clinic was established in 2010 and provides privatized outpatient cardiology services to Canberra and the surrounding regions in a modern yet caring environment. Canberra Heart Clinic offers excellent staff facilities which are not matched by any other specialist medical centre in the region. It has 2 e95 echo machines with 4D capability, an e90 echo machine and a Vivid iq portable echo machine. All our cardiac ultrasound machines are capable of strain analysis. The Canberra Heart Clinic provides a full Holter monitor service with 20 Holter monitors that can record up to 7 days and also provides ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. In addition to full consultative services including cardiac device checks it provides a full echo service including exercise stress echocardiography. The Canberra Heart Clinic utilizes highly advanced technological equipment and this assists in the efficient running of this health service. Reporting of investigations and other administrative tasks can be done from anywhere in the world. The staff are friendly and support each other in this busy yet stimulating workplace environment.

The Canberra Heart Clinic currently has an interventional cardiologist, imaging cardiologist pediatric cardiologist, general cardiologist and a general physician.

We have 2 specialist cardiology practices in the north and south of Canberra. Our Deakin practice is located in the southern part of Canberra and our newly established Gungahlin practice is situated in the northern part of Canberra. Our principal cardiologists work at both locations. Gungahlin is deemed an area of need. Cardiac technicians that join of service would also conduct satellite clinics in regional centres that drain to Canberra. Canberra with its drainage areas serves a population of close to 850,000.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cardiology Technician to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to assist in diagnosing and treating heart conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cardiology practices and excellent interpersonal skills to provide exceptional care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain ECG, echocardiogram, and other cardiac diagnostic equipment.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, including explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort.
  • Perform ECGs, stress tests, Holter monitoring, and other diagnostic tests as directed by physicians.
  • Monitor patients' heart rates and blood pressure during tests and procedures.
  • Document test results and patient information accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sterilizing equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Provide patients with information about follow-up care and post-procedure instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare staff.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in cardiac technology or related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Cardiology Technician or relevant experience in the field.
  • Proficiency with cardiac diagnostic equipment and technology.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year

Overseas cardiac technicians may be considered but will require to undertake further studies at QUT to obtain a diploma of cardiac ultrasound.
