Dental Assistant - Brisbane North Specialist Paediatric Dental Practice

Chermside and North Lakes Paediatric Dental Care is seeking an enthusiastic experienced part-time dental assistant to join our dedicated team.

 

ABOUT THE PRACTICE

Chermside and North Lakes Paediatric Dental Care is a specialist practice providing a full scope of paediatric dental care for infants, children and adolescents as well as children with special needs. We are a highly motivated, experienced and supportive team of specialist paediatric dentist, OHT and qualified assistants committed to the exceptional patient care.

 

ABOUT THE POSITION

- Part time - 4 days a week (average 32 hours)

- On-site role at both Chermside and North Lakes branches

- Assist the paediatric dentist / oral health therapist in various dental procedures and treatments involving all aspects of paediatric dentistry, including preventive and restorative treatment, treatment under sedation and general anaesthesia, minor oral surgery, trauma management, endodontic treatment, interceptive orthodontic treatment and behaviour management.

- Prepare and organise the dental operatory for patient treatment in surgery and theatre sessions in hospital setting.

- Sterilise and maintain dental instruments and equipment

- Provide chairside assistance to the specialist dentist during examinations (including charting) and procedures including under nitrous oxide sedation (4-handed).

- Provide dental procedure assisting under general anaesthetic (6 handed) in hospital setting

- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation

- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards

- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure a seamless patient experience

- Stock maintenance / ordering

- Extended patient care where required including administration support by processing payments, making and confirming appointments, management of patient records and correspondence

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- Ability to be accredited at hospital for assisting in General Anaesthesia sessions which must require completion of Cert III in Dental Assisting and full compliance to Hospital immunisation requirements.

- Current first aid certificate

- Proven experience as a dental assistant (Minimum 4 years in clinical dental assisting)

- Sound knowledge of dental procedures and terminology and item numbers

- Experience in Dental for Window preferred

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with parents and children

- Initiative, ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

- Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining a clean and organised workspace

- Flexibility, reliability and punctuality
