The Role:

With this newly created role, brings an opportunity for motivated and suitably experienced Aboriginal Clinical Nurse Educators to apply to join the Aboriginal Support Unit at Northern Health. 

 

This position is an ongoing part time role (64 hours per fortnight)  

 

The Aboriginal Clinical Nurse Educator focuses on understanding and addressing the unique healthcare needs and cultural considerations of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners. The Educator will develop and coordinate educational programs, support clinical staff, and ensure high-quality patient care, aligning with Northern Health's commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal peoples. The role is integral to the provision of best practice by the coordination and development of multidisciplinary professional development programs including post graduate, NH graduate and undergraduate programs. 

 

This role provides significant support to the education coordination across the quality and national standards clinical improvement committees in meeting accreditation. The role supports the Northern Health's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and The Aboriginal Cultural Safety Plan (2023-2024)

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

Essential

  • Identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander position. NB applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14d of the New South Wales Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 Special measures section.
  • Post graduate qualification in relevant specialty, (education or similar)
  • Diploma or Master’s degree in relevant specialty (or working towards)
  • Current AHPRA nursing registration
  • Current National Police and Working with Children History Check
