Clinical Nurse Consultant/Specialist

Purpose of Position

Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified and motivated mental health nurses for a part time (0.5 FTE) Shared Care CNC 2 role in the St Vincents Mental Health Service. This new role will support a stepped care service model by identifying and supporting general practitioners who work with or are willing to work with people with mental health disorders.The position is 12 months fixed term with a view to a further extension to 24 months.Key responsibilities will include:Working with general practitioners and/or psychiatrists to provide coordinated clinical care for people with severe and complex mental illness transitioning to and from primary and secondary care.Providing information on physical health care, as required and, where appropriate, assist in addressing the physical and mental health inequities.Improving links to other health professionals, clinical services and psychosocial support providers. Promoting and committing to the implementation of quality improvement activities related to the care and treatment of mental health consumers and their carers.Liaising and developing partnerships within a range of health, other government and non-government departments, organisations and services.Undertaking administrative tasks and responsibilities to support the above objectives.This position requires a Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Children's Guardian. Selection Criteria

Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries

Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency

Post registration tertiary qualifications (or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by St Vincents Health Network) and a minimum of 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field

Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within the interdisciplinary team and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development

Demonstrated high level computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record system

Demonstrated high level effective communication and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a registered nurse

Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to priorities competing workloads with in a complex environment
