One of our busy GPs is moving away, and we have many patients of his that need caring for.

Our objective at Goldsmith Street Surgery is to provide a caring & relaxed environment for patients in a family friendly atmosphere.

Feedback we have consistently has from GPs working with us include that we are "a caring and supportive and flexible place to work".

We have a practice nurse, on-site pathology, Psychologist, Dietitian, Audiometry, Sleep Studies, INR, ECG, Spirometry, and a comprehensive Care Plan system to support the doctors and the patients.

We have access to a comprehensive range of services:

  1. Pathology on site
  2. Radiology / Radiography Daily reporting services by Radiologists at both locations; Private X-Ray and Hospital X-Ray; Hours 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday
  3. Hospital facilities across the road (Goulburn Base Hospital), staffing two specialist physicians, two surgeons, one paediatrician, one obstetrician
  4. Visiting specialists include endocrinologist, cardiologist, ENT specialist, orthopaedic surgeon and urologist.
  5. Rehabilitation & Palliative Care Hospital - St John of God Hospital (fully accredited) located two blocks from the surgery.
  6. Psychologist, Dietitian, Audiometry, Sleep Studies on site

The standard ambulance transfer time for a patient to Goulburn Base Hospital is 30 minutes, but if urgent then transfer usually happens within 5 minutes.
The GP position requires a Medicare Provider Number that enables patients to obtain Medicare rebates.
The doctor will not be required to take part in any weekday after-hours roster, but may do so if they choose.


The GP we seek must have at least 2 years of general practice experience.
The GP must attend the ALS course (if not already done so within the last 3 years) within the first year at the practice.
The GP may also be advised to do the Family Planning course if not competent in women’s health.

Clinical Competencies

The GP must be competent in general practice medicine, including general medicine and surgery, paediatrics, gynaecology, preventive health, chronic disease management, and mental health.
The GP will be expected to competently perform the following procedures: Pap smears, vaccinations, CPR.
It is desirable, but not essential, that the GP have experience in excision of simple skin lesions.
Obstetric antenatal care will be required, but no inpatient obstetric care or deliveries.

Supervision under MDRAP & for AHPRA is available on site.


Part time or full time

Clinic hours: 9am to 5pm

Surgery / Obstetrics / Anaesthetics - NOT REQUIRED

The doctor will have a collaborative and team-based approach within the practice also, with excellent communication skills enabling timely and clear interactions with the practice principal, practice manager, practice nurse, receptionists and other doctors. The purpose of this requirement is to facilitate harmonious relationships with the practice team, and ensure efficiency and efficacy.

The doctor may be required to provide written reports to Workers' Compensation insurance companies and solicitors; to perform home visits; to attend nursing home patients and other aged care facilities.

The doctor will be communicating with specialist doctors and allied health professionals external to the practice, with the purpose being to communicate relevant clinical information about their patients and to provide a team-based holistic patient care.
