Conditions of Employment:

  • Salary: $62,601 to $95,776 pro rat per annum + 10% Superannuation
  • Classification: Allied Health Professional Level 1-2
  • Award/Agreement: Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement
  • Location: Statewide
  • Hours of Work: Fixed-term full time and Fixed-term part time for periods of up to 12 months.

About the Team

Children, Youth, and Families (CYF) provide integrated programs that support all children, young people, and their families in Tasmania. The Child Safety Service (CSS) is integral to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and young people who are at risk or in crisis, in northern Tasmania.e protect children and young people by working with young people, their families, community, and non-government support agencies, to strengthen the capacity of families and individuals to provide adequate support, care, and safety to children.

About You

In addition to meeting the essential requirements, to succeed long term in this role you should possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Genuine motivation and passion to work as part of a team in Child Safety
  • High level of personal resilience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to self-reflect
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to change your communication style, de-escalate and manage conflicts
  • Experience and knowledge in assessment and casework interventions
  • Completed study from a relevant field of study

Duties Include:

  • Under general supervision, provide quality, timely and effective intervention, and case management services within a defined child safety service delivery framework, working within the Tasmanian Child Protection Professional Practice Standards.
  • Engage and work with children and young persons and their families to promote safety, stability, and development of the child, and to strengthen family capacity. This includes directly guiding, encouraging, and supporting the child and family while monitoring impacts and outcomes

Essential Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Social Work or a Diploma of Community Welfare Work or other tertiary qualifications at Diploma or above level which includes units of case management/casework practice and supervised practical work placements in relevant fields.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (Employment type)

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

    • a) crimes of violence
    • b) sex related offences
    • c) serious drug offences
    • d) crimes involving dishonesty
    • e) serious traffic offences
