The Orthotist/ Prosthetist applies clinical experience, increasingly generalist and / or specialist clinical knowledge and professional competence to plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive and integrated range of services, appropriate to the needs of the local community. The Orthotist/ Prosthetist works under reduced clinical direction, and may contribute to the clinical supervision of less experienced allied health professionals, allied health assistants and students. As a member of a multi-professional team, including health professionals and service providers from other sectors, the Orthotist/ Prosthetist utilises a combination of preventative, early intervention, treatment / therapy and evaluation approaches

This position is based in Whyalla and as the only Orthotics /Prosthetics service located in Country South Australia, the successful applicant will be part of a dynamic team that provides regular outreach services to surrounding cities health services. This allows team members to be supported to gain experience and work in various clinical settings while still being part of a bigger multidisciplinary Rehabilitation Team. Our small team has staffing of 4 Orthotists Prosthetists and 3 Allied Heath Assistants/Technicians and an Administration Officer. This staffing mix allows the team to support each other in the use of the latest technology to provide high quality services to the communities we service.

Please note this position is multi-classed as AHP1 or AHP2 and classification will be determined by knowledge and experience.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Screening/Check and specific immunisation requirements. COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement under the Emergency Management (Healthcare Setting Workers Vaccination) (COVID-19) Directions 2021 to work in SA Health/health care setting.
