- Part Time (18.75 hours per week), Temporary up to3/7/22
You will be responsible for the provision of physiotherapy services to clients of the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit (BIRU), striving to maximise their physical potential to achieve optimum independence and quality of life. Undertaking physiotherapy assessments and interventions, you will maintain the clinical management of an allocated caseload. Coordinating therapy strategies with clients, the interdisciplinary team, family and significant others,you will support clients with a wide range of training activities, and provide advice around equipment prescription, graded exercise programs and returning to community living. This will includeassisting heavily disabled clients, and those with behavioural and cognitive difficulties. As part of your role, you will direct and supervise Allied Health Assistants in physiotherapy-specific service delivery and supervise physio students as required. You will take part in quality improvement and clinical research projects, as appropriate, including assisting with preparation for BIRU to move to Repat Health Precinct in February 2022. This position could include rotating into other areas of SABIRS, such as community rehabilitation. Working within a state-wide specialist rehabilitation service, you will receive support from a supervisor to develop your skills and have access to opportunities for professional development within a friendly team environment.
Holding an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia, you will have experience working in a rehabilitation area. You will bring excellent computer skills and will progress these quickly. Experience in an inpatient rehabilitation team, and with clients with an acquired brain injury will be ideal. Demonstrating clinical skills for a variety of presentations, you will possess excellent interpersonal skills and bring the ability to relate and communicate well with clients, families and staff. Your effectiveness in an interdisciplinary team and participation in ongoing professional development will make you an ideal person for this role.
