An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join a newly formed service within the Northern Geriatrics in the Home Team (GITH). The Senior Occupation Therapist will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, medical and nursing staff focusing on hospital avoidance and care in-place for clients residing in Residential Aged Care Facilities. The senior Occupational Therapist is responsible to the Advanced Nurse Unit Manager and the Geriatrics in the Home team for the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of quality Occupational Therapy services for patients referred to the GITH service who reside in the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN).
The Senior Clinician Occupational Therapy participates as member of the Geriatric team within the broader Northern Adelaide Geriatric service. Optimal care and outcomes is ensured by providing a comprehensive range of Occupational Therapy services to patients receiving in-patient hospital substitution services in their own home.
The Senior Clinician Occupational Therapy works in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team, to effectively plan and provide therapeutic interventions based on patient goals. This may involve consultation and liaison with the team, other professional disciplines and external organisations.
The Senior Clinician Occupational Therapy is accountable for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff .
The Senior Clinician Occupational Therapy assists in the provision and management of a service particularly in the areas of :
- Supporting occupational therapy staff , students and relevant Allied Health Assistants.
- Improving occupational therapy, policy, procedures, guidelines and practices
- Facilitating the development and application of relevant research.
To be eligible for this position, you must hold anAppropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
