The Medical Wards offer inpatient care to patients admitted with complex conditions and associated complications. The core priorities of this position are to collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
Under direction of the Clinical Nurse Consultant, the RNL2 will:
1. Provide comprehensive client focused care to patients using evidence based practice.
2. Provide leadership and promote a commitment to high quality customer service principles, practices and attributes.
3. Maintain individual professional development activities through formal and informal training, sharing acquired knowledge, supporting the development of others and contributing to learning.
4. Participate in nursing practice review, quality improvement, clinical research, policy development and review.
5. Contribute to communication processes which demonstrate a commitment to effectively deal with challenging behaviours and the resolution of conflict.
6. Practices in a way that acknowledges the dignity, culture, values, beliefs and rights of individuals and/or groups. Promotes high quality customer service, adhering to relevant standards, policy and legislation.
7. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

• Experienced Medical nurse.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work within a team environment.
• Adaptability and flexibility to accommodate change and respond appropriately to meet clients’ needs.
• Eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Minimum three years post registration experience.
• Have an understanding of how the National Standards and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
• Fulfil the responsibilities of this role as detailed in the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework and all other related frameworks.
Note: There are several temporary positions available for up to six months with the possibility of extension.
Prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:
• Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
• Obtain a Compliance Certificate from OMU (Occupational Medicine Unit) relating to assessment, screening, and vaccination processes against specified infectious diseases.
• Provide current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
WHAT YOU REQUIRE
These are the key Selection Criteria for how you will be assessed in conjunction with your curriculum vitae and experience:
1. Proven experience in utilising the nursing process to provide quality client focused care in Medical Patients integrating clinical expertise and evidence based research.
2. Effective leadership and the ability to work collaboratively and in consultation with the multidisciplinary team to achieve planned clinical outcomes. Including effective interpersonal skills including the capacity for clear and appropriate communication (oral, non-verbal and written) with key stakeholders in a diverse range of situations.
3. Proven commitment to an individual professional development plan; active contribution to and participation in education and training; facilitate competency based education for new and less experienced staff members.
4. Demonstrated commitment to participating in and development of policy and procedure, quality and improvement, unit education activities and research.
5. Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, Work, Health and Safety (WHS) and the positive patient experience. Displays behaviour consistent with CHS’s values of Reliable, Progressive, Respectful, and Kind.
