A Northern VIC hospital requires a Specialist in Psychiatry from 15/01/2024 to 17/05/2024.

15/1 – 12/4 Adult Community (negotiable days)
8.30 – 5pm – no weekends, public holidays or on calls


19/2 – 17/5 Adult Community (negotiable days)
8.30 – 5pm – no weekends, public holidays or on calls

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACTIVITIES AND DUTIES:
• Demonstrate a capacity to develop and lead a multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Take a lead role in the assessment and management of patients between the age of 16 years and 64 years in collaboration with other senior clinicians / colleagues.
• Initiate and undertake, where appropriate, liaison with families, other care providers including relevant agencies, partners and legal representatives.
• Initiate and undertake, where appropriate, to develop a collaborative network between the various clinical programs of mental health services for adults with mental health issues.
• Provide supervision to junior medical staff, including interns, residents and specialist trainee psychiatrists
• Ensure documentation pertaining to patients under your care, including those of interns and hospital medical officers under your supervision is maintained a high standard.
• Assist the organisation in achieving clinical effectiveness by providing the appropriate systems, information or services to clinical areas.
• Be familiar with health policy and legislation that applies to young people and their families and ensure the clinical team complies with them.
• Participate in on – call and / or ECT rosters
• Participate in the Continuing Professional Development program including a regular peer review as required by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)
• Provide a high quality service to internal customers and consumers that reflects best practice and adds value
• Assist the organisation in achieving clinical effectiveness by providing the appropriate systems, information or services to clinical areas
