Te Toka Tumai |Starship Child Health is a dedicated paediatric healthcare service and major national teaching centre, providing whānau/family-centred care for tamariki/children and rangatahi/young people. Starship is part of Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland andprovides a wide range of complex medical, surgical, cardiac and mental health services for children and young people throughoutNew Zealandand the South Pacific. Starship aims to lead the nation in providing world-class equitable healthcare, paediatric training and research, in an environment where kaimahi/staff can flourish personally and professionally.

Mō te tūnga | About the roles

Starship is seeking Paediatric Cardiologists to work full-time or part-time in the Paediatric and Congenital Service (PCCS). The Green Lane Paediatric and Congenital Cardiac Service (PCCS) is a national service based at Starship Children's Health, Auckland. It is the sole provider of cardiology and cardiac surgical services for infants and children with congenital and acquired heart disease in New Zealand and several Pacific Island nations. It also provides a foetal and adult congenital cardiology service.

The unit has a catchment population of five million and provides a full range of investigations and procedures with over 400 surgical cases per year. You would be working in a department with 10 other cardiologists, 3 cardiac surgeons, 4 cardiology fellows in training and a well-established multi-disciplinary team.

To be successful in the role you will be

· Be qualified as a Paediatric Cardiologist, ideally with a strong subspecialty interest/expertise in imaging and fetal cardiology or interventional cardiology, however, we will also consider applicants with other strong subspecialty skills.

·Have Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand orbe eligible to become vocationally registered

·Possess and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a collegial environment

·Demonstrate interest and potential to actively participate in departmental activities including teaching, audit and research

·Demonstrated Te Tiriti o Waitangi knowledge and application*

*Applicants from outside New Zealand are welcome. For non-New Zealand applicants, prior experience in performance improvement and reduction of health inequities is vital.
