What you will be doing:

An exciting opportunity is available to join the High Risk Foot Service at Nepean Hospital as a Senior Podiatrist. In this role you will provide a high level of clinical care and expertise in the area of High Risk Foot, particularly in diabetes. This position will contribute to the development of the High Risk Foot Service at Nepean Hospital as part of the NSW Ministry of Health's Leading Better Value Care for high risk foot in diabetes initiative. This will include collaborating with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that the 2018 NADC Standards for High Risk Foot Services are met and implementing monitoring systems to measure patient outcomes as a means to institute and measure quality improvement.

The Senior Podiatrist also provides advice to the Head of Dept of Endocrinology and the Allied Health Manager, Nepean Hospital regarding issues facing podiatric service delivery and strategies to improve service delivery. This also includes delivery of specialised Podiatric services to patients accessing the High risk Podiatry service, Nepean Hospital and to some inpatients at Nepean Hospital. Utilise high level podiatric professional knowledge to make independent judgements about assessment and treatment of complex high risk foot problems.

Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.


Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.


Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection Criteria to be Addressed:

  1. Current National AHPRA Podiatry registration
  2. Recognised Degree / Diploma in Podiatry.
  3. Experience and interest in the management of high-risk feet in patients with diabetes
  4. Extensive Podiatry clinical experience and expertise and a commitment to improve these skills
  5. Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills, initiative, time management, and commitment to the clinical team
  6. Demonstrated experience working effectively and collaboratively as part of a team
  7. Effective supervision skills and a commitment to improve these skills
