This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.
Packages may consist of family and compassionate travel assistance, an upfront Rural Recruitment Cash Bonus upon appointment, contributions to professional development, utility reimbursements and study assistance, in addition to relocation benefits and accommodation assistance.

- Current midwifery registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Confidence and skill to be rostered on 8 hour shifts as a solo Core Midwife on the ward, and provide senior Midwifery clinical support during admissions, labour and birth.
- Demonstrated application of professional and ethical boundaries to the delivery of patient care in the context of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised person centred care patient care.
- Excellent competency and proficiency as a midwife in antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care, lactation and infant feeding with an understanding of effective escalation and emergency Midwifery care.
- Demonstrated capacity to interact with a multidisciplinary team in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
- Demonstrated commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and families and employees to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
