Working for Health New Zealand is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the health and wellbeing of our Auckland community. You’ll be joining Level 9 unit , one of our Operating Room departments within the Perioperative Services at Te Toka Tumai.

The Charge Anaesthetic Technician is responsible for providing clinical leadership to the Anaesthesia Technician team on a daily basis in conjunction with the Theatre Manager, Level 9. This involves managing the effective, efficient and safe day-to-day operational requirements.

In this position you will be responsible for :-

  • providing supervision, advice, education and training to the team responsible for providing anaesthetic care to patients during the peri-operative phase while working as a skilled member of the team
  • organising rosters and ensuring that allocation is based on the appropriate skill mix and experience of staff
  • managing resources and equipment
  • providing assistance to the Theatre Manager for the smooth running of the department

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

You will be a qualified Anaesthetic Technician with a relevant qualification e.g experienced Anaesthetic Technician or ODP with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience and will :-

  • Currently hold or be eligible for registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand (http://www.mscouncil.org.nz/)
  • Have experience in a leadership role with responsibilities to co-ordinate and organise teams and rosters
  • Have excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Be good communicator and have high quality interactions with the MDT and staff.
  • Be proactive at identifying issues, escalation and problem solving these.
  • Be passionate, driven and focused on quality and excellence
  • Have a proven track record for setting high ethical and professional standards
