Te whiwhinga mahi| The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Department of Critical Care Medicine (DCCM) for a Clinical Nurse Educator.

We are seeking a suitably qualified Registered Nurse who has a passion for education and advanced nursing skills in Adult Critical Care.

This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team within DCCM and the medical directorate and across the wider Auckland DHB to optimise the quality and effectiveness of service for intensive care and high dependency patients.

In this role you will provide professional and clinical leadership, education and clinical teaching to multidisciplinary staff, often working together with educators from other disciplines. You will be a member of our Senior Nursing Team, and will be involved in unit projects, quality initiatives and ensuring safe practice.

You will be someone who can work autonomously, prioritise workload and work as part of a supportive senior nursing team committed to effective/evidenced based nursing practice. The focus will be predominantly within DCCM however you will be involved in some training programmes across the organisation and some regional and national education initiatives. You will work a minimum of 0.8 FTE, over a minimum of 3 days per week.

  • Have at least 5 years acute nursing experience including in the intensive care environment.
  • Have experience working with complex patients.
  • Interact effectively with a multi-disciplinary Team and Service members.
  • Maintain safe cultural practice and develop your cultural knowledge.
  • Have excellent supervisory, communication and problem-solving skills to relate to and work with staff and patients at all levels.
  • Have NZ Nursing registration with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.

Preferably you will hold a Post-Graduate Certificate or Diploma in specialty nursing practice.
