We are looking for someone to ideally bring rural medicine experience however we are open to hearing from those with the commitment to learn and grow in this niche specialty.

Kaitaia Hospital is a small rural hospital serving a widely scattered population of approximately 24,000. The 28-bed hospital has a mixed general, paediatric and maternity ward with all the supporting services, and is supported by Whangarei Hospital in providing secondary care services. The range of medical care managed at Kaitaia Hospital is complex and interesting, providing care for the growing population as well as the huge influx of tourists in the summer period. You will be a pro-active clinician with the ability to communicate effectively and build great working relationships with our close-knit hospital team.

Kaitaia is the northern-most town in New Zealand, before you get to the iconic Cape Reinga. The small town is rich in culture and heritage and boasts some of the most scenic and exciting coastal areas of New Zealand. To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist (or locum tenens) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in a Rural Hospital Medicine scope of practice.
