We are one of Australia’s largest suppliers of rural doctors and we are seeking experienced Specialist Physicians to join our specialist medical locum pool. We will allocate a personal recruitment consultant to seek out and match your availability to job opportunities and take care of your placements every step of the way.
The Positions
Qualified Specialist Consultant Physicians are sought for short and long-term contract locum placements in rural, regional, outer metro and metropolitan areas in several States of Australia in the following fields:
- General Physicians
- Cardiologists
- Respiratory Physicians
- Endocrinologists
- Gastroenterologists
- Infectious Diseases Physicians
- Renal Physicians
- Neurologists
- Oncologists
The locum positions are typically available at larger hospitals across Australia where there are short or long-term vacancies for medical specialists. The level of registrar support available varies with each facility.
As well as ongoing continuous roles, there are shorter term vacancies from 1-4 weeks and forward roster periods available of approximately 5 to 14 days per month on a fly-in, fly-out basis. Specialist Physicians usually participate in an on-call roster.

Locum doctor payments are made by way of daily rates either on ABN invoice or hospital payroll. Rural placements provide return flights, use of a motor vehicle and accommodation.
Skilled Medical can also assist medical specialists in finding employment in permanent roles.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must be registered as medical specialists with the Medical Board of Australia/AHPRA, be eligible for credentialling in their specialist discipline, hold CPD certificates of currency from their specialist Medical College and medical indemnity insurance.
