What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of a Provisional Fellow in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine is to provide advanced level practice in a complex clinical environment in diving and hyperbaric medicine, whilst under supervision. Provisional Fellow are expected to demonstrate a higher level of knowledge and skills in their primary field prior to entering a fellowship year, potentially including, but not limited to:
Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine
Emergency Medicine
Intensive Care Medicine
General Practice

This position can be for 6 or 12 months depending on the training needs of the Provisional Fellow.
The Provisional Fellow position is accredited (upon application) by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and has full accreditation for training towards the ANZCA Diploma of Advanced DHM. The position is also accredited by the Australian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) for 6 months at 1.0 FTE of Special Skills Non‐ED advanced training and with the South Pacific Underwater Medical Society for training for the SPUMS Diploma of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine.
  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Senior trainee in a relevant medical specialist field including, but not limited to: ANZCA Trainee of ATY 1 (above or equivalent); Senior Trainee College of Intensive Care Medicine; Senior Trainee Australian College of Emergency Medicine; Senior Clinician, Royal Australian Navy - Minimum Australian Defence Force Medical Officer Competency Level 2; Senior Trainee Australasian College of General Practitioners.
  3. Demonstrated advanced ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care, including commitment to the after-hours Hyperbaric roster and demonstrated interest in Hyperbaric Medicine
  4. Demonstrated advanced communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience
  5. Demonstrated advanced organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  7. Demonstrated advanced ability to remain calm and act constructively when faced with high pressure situations or unpredictable environments
  8. Demonstrated previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
