The PositionThe Department of Medicine at this Northern Queensland Hospital are looking for a Palliative Care - Staff Specialist to join their team on a Permanent Full-Time basis.
Health ServiceThe Health Services provides palliative care support to inpatients, outpatient clinics and a community program to assist patients and carers in their own home within a 45km radius. Specialist palliative care support in the surrounding regions, are provided by the Specialist Palliative Care Rural Telehealth Service (SPaRTa) team based at the surrounding hospital and Health Service. A multidisciplinary team working within specialist palliative care provides holistic, co-ordinated care to patients and their carers across the care continuum, with close collaboration with other health professionals.
The LocationProviding relaxed and comfortable rural and coastal living opportunities, only an hour flight from Brisbane and a short distance to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. The tropical climate is ideal for outdoor living with beautiful beaches and a spectacular natural environment nearby. Families are well serviced by a choice of high quality schools and a wide range of sporting clubs with excellent facilities.
Essential CriteriaMandatory possession of an approved medicine degree from a registered tertiary institution and;
- General and Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory authority (Medical Board of Australia), and;
- Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) with specialized skills, knowledge and clinical competence in the area of palliative care are mandatory and should hold an FRACP in Palliative Medicine or FAChPM.
- High level specialist clinical knowledge and understanding of palliative care.
- High level of initiative and decision-making ability to make important clinical decisions on a day to day basis.
- Demonstrated ability to provide professional supervision, education, and training to junior medical staff.
The Package
- Total remuneration value of up to $470,780 (L24) is comprised of: A salary between $204,206 - $237,196 (L18-L24)
- Total remuneration value of up to $514,452 (L27) is comprised of: A salary between $244,201 - $258,910 (L25-L27)
