  • Procedural hospital seeing approximately 25-32 patients per day through ED. Maternity on site with Obstetric and Anaesthetic cover.

A Central NSW hospital requires a Senior Medical Officer in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from 10/06/2024 to 17/06/2024.

SHIFTS:

Mon, 10 Jun 2024 to Mon, 17 Jun 2024
Hours: 08:00 - 08:00

Face-to-face clinical handover at 0800 – 0830 with outgoing or incoming obstetricians in Maternity.
• Daily inpatient maternity ward rounds from 0800 - 0900.
• Manage early labour and pregnancy loss including D & C and manual removal of placenta.
• Provide comprehensive assessment of the neonate prior to discharge including documentation in eMR and personal health record as needed.
• Provide onsite obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatal care to patients presenting to the emergency department, maternity ward and admitted to the facility from 0800 – 1700.
• Provide assessments for inductions of labour as scheduled.
• Provide antenatal and postnatal outpatient clinic services as scheduled.
• Document daily ward rounds, complete discharge summaries and review obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatal patients admitted or presenting to the maternity ward or emergency as requested.
• Complete contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical documentation in eMR and eMaternity.
• Provide and lead clinical review, rapid response, obstetric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation for maternity and neonatal patients across the facility.
• Check pathology and radiology results in the maternity results message centre ordered by any doctor, follow-up and document management plans for any results needed further action and review any patients returning for follow-up of results.
• Provide medical support for the MAPPS and MGP midwifery models of care.
• Participate in the training and supervision of students, junior medical officers and registrars.
• Participate in maternity team meetings, morbidity and mortality meetings, MDT meetings and other clinical meetings as requested.
