What you'll be doing

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of person centred; evidence- based nursing care that promotes positive health outcomes. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with consumers and the multidisciplinary healthcare team. The Registered Nurse will work in therapeutic and professional relationships with consumers, as well as families, groups and communities. The Registered Nurse will assist in the provision of supervision and support for less experienced clinicians and will maintain their professional accountability and development in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia's Standards of Practice. All staff are expected to act as an appropriate and effective role model and promote culture and supporting practices that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment through demonstrated behaviours and interactions with patients, clients and employees.


All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.

Selection Criteria

  1. Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
  2. Demonstrated experience and/ or knowledge of working with drug and alcohol clients.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of evidence based practice and critical thinking as it relates to drug and alcohol nursing.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to person centred care and NSW Health Core Values.
  5. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  7. Computer literacy and understanding of relevant health related information systems.
  8. Current driver's license.
