What you'll be doing:
An excellent opportunity is now available to join the team in the Antenatal Ward at Nepean Hospital working 4 days per week on a Temporary contract for a minimum of 13 weeks with possible extension.

The NBMLHD Nursing and Midwifery Workforce will provide safe, compassionate, person-centred health care in collaboration with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams. Your role as The Clinical Nurse Educator (CN/ME) in consultation with the Nursing Unit Manager will identify, develop, implement and evaluate education for staff working within the unit.

The CN/ME will provide Clinical Teaching, Orientation, Skill Accreditation and Professional Development support for all nursing staff and students. They will also be expected to teach courses appropriate to nursing within facilities across NBMLHD.

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form - IM011 form).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection criteria to be addressed:

  1. Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications, or such education and clinical experience in Child and Family Health nursing deemed appropriate by the employer.
  2. Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes that align with NSW Health's organisation's CORE values of; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment, when interacting with staff, patients, consumers, and carers.
  3. Demonstrated ability to design, implement and evaluate clinical education at the ward/unit level, and provide support and guidance to ensure an appropriately skilled and qualified nursing workforce, working within appropriate models of care.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous quality improvement and the maintenance of a learning environment that values and encourages learning and reflective practice.
  5. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation, feedback and conflict resolution.
  6. Demonstrated ability to motivate, support and engage people in the clinical setting and work professionally in a multidisciplinary team.
  7. Evidence of computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and record management systems.
  8. Current valid Drivers Licence (P1 Acceptable) with proven good driving record and a willingness to use for work purposes. This will include driving long distances across the Local Health District.
