Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is seeking a passionate Unaccredited Trainee to join our Orthopaedic Department in 2024!

As a valued member of the team, you have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience that may not be as readily available in larger, metropolitan settings.

You will be supporting 3 local Orthopaedic Surgeons with another 4FTE Unaccredited Trainees and 2FTE Junior Medical Officers.

Where you'll be working
You will be working across a broad scope of general orthopaedic practice; the Orthopaedic Service at Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital encourages collaboration and collegiate relationships across multi-disciplinary teams ensuring the best service delivery. You will be working across a broad scope of general orthopaedic practice with the opportunity to participate in planned and trauma cases.

We are seeking an Unaccredited Trainee who is eager to develop professional skills to put them on the path of progressing to Accredited Orthopaedic Training.

With 348 treatment spaces, we are the major Rural Referral Hospital to the North West of NSW. We conduct over 9000 surgical procedures per annum over 5 theatre spaces; with the new facility boasting an additional 3 theatre rooms which have been built for future growth.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  2. Drivers licence in order to provide service between hospitals and out of hours.
  3. Minimum of 3 years post graduate experience at commencement of post, with minimum 1 year experience in Orthopaedics.
  4. Excellent communication (verbal and written) with patients, their families, medical and non-medical colleagues; Demonstrates ability to provide empathetic and expert clinical care.
  5. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team as shown by diligence, punctuality, organisational/ record keeping, empathy, teamwork, time management and a professional manner, within a supervised complex clinical environment.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to the Orthopaedic Training Program with evidence of continuing professional development and self-education, and teaching undergraduate and postgraduates.
