Where you'll be working
With 348 treatment spaces, we are the major Rural Referral Hospital to the North West of NSW. We conduct over 9000 surgical procedures per annum over 5 theatre spaces; with the new facility boasting an additional 3 theatre rooms which have been built for future growth.
Uniquely you will find this position will offer you more hands-on supervised theatre time than your metropolitan colleagues. You will be supportingfiveGeneral Surgeons, 3FTE SET Trainees and4FTE Junior Medical Officers.
You will be required to equally participate in the General Surgery after-hours/on-call roster, including 1:4 weekends.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the role is to provide effective clinical management of general surgicalpatients, under appropriate supervision, whilst developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. The unaccredited trainee is the key person who works closely with all members of a multi-disciplinary team and deals with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature, whilst exercising discretion, sensitivity, and maintaining confidentiality.
Decision-making and supervision will be at the appropriate level according to the unaccredited trainee’s skills, knowledge, and experience. They will be expected to adopt a progressively more independent approach to patient management according to their experience, under the guidance of and at the discretion of the appropriate Attending Medical Officer (AMO). All patients managed within the hospitals of the health service are under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding a patient’s care are to be clearly communicated with the specialist responsible for that care.
This is a contracted position up until Monday the 4th of August.
