What you'll be doing
The End of Life Care Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is a clinical expert who, through leadership, facilitates excellence in research based clinical practice, education, research and professional leadership. The CNC models the CORE (Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment) values of the organisation.

The End of Life Care CNC aims to improve end of life care for patients outside of the specialist palliative care service. The position will review current practice, assist in introducing evidence based models of care such as Amber Care Bundles, last days of life toolkit, and develop and implement sustainable systems such as a District End of Life Committee.

The End of Life Care CNC will strive to ensure quality end of life care is provided to the Illawarra and Shoalhaven. This will be achieved through the implementation of national, state and local policies, strategies, standards and initiatives.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.

Selection Criteria

  1. Registered nurse with a current licence to practice from the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and current NSW Driver's License (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
  2. Minimum five years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field and post graduate qualifications relevant to the field of practice.
  3. Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
  4. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework.
  5. Proven ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the utilisation of evidence based research.
  6. Demonstrated skills in strategic and clinical service planning including an understanding of organisational behaviour, change management and cultural change processes.
  7. Demonstrated skills in clinical teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and experience in the development of specialty education programs.
  8. Demonstrated clinical expertise in client-centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
