About Your Role

NSW Health provides integrated violence, abuse and neglect services to clients, specifically for those who may have experienced the trauma of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse and neglect. NSW Health seeks to provide a culturally safe sexual assault service (SAS) for people from diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal families and communities.

The role will be working within a strength based, family centred and culturally centred trauma informed approach, to provide therapeutic and casework services to adults and children who have been sexually assaulted, and their non-offending family members. The role will partner with the local sexual assault service, to develop a deeper level of awareness and understanding of how to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people who may engage with these specific services.*

This role will have a professional development plan in place that will provide the opportunity for work-based development which allows for progression through the Award levels in accordance with the position holder’s skill acquisition.

This role will work collaboratively with the Sexual Assault Coordinator, Sexual Assault Clinical Lead, Forensic Medical Lead, JCPRP Coordinator and Priority Populations Program in the implementation and development of localised policy, procedures and strategic direction in line with NSW Health Responding to Sexual Assault (Adult and Child) Policies and Procedures.

*Noting that working towards cultural competence is a responsibility of all SAS staff: Responding to Sexual Assault (Adult and Child) Policy and Procedures February 2020.
