Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department in 2024!

With 348 treatment spaces, we are the major Rural Referral Hospital to the Northwest of NSW. We conduct over 9000 surgical procedures per annum over 5 theatre spaces; with the new facility boasting an additional 3 theatre rooms which have been built for future growth.

What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of the Unaccredited Trainee (UT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to women requiring planned and emergency medical services in a complex clinical environment. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the medical officer.

Uniquely you will find this position will offer you more hands-on supervised clinic and theatre time than your metropolitan colleagues. You will be supporting 4 local O&G Surgeons with another 4FTE Unaccredited Trainees and 2FTE Junior Medical Officers.

You will be working across a broad scope of obstetrics and gynaecology practice; the O&G Service at Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital encourages collaboration and collegiate relationships across multi-disciplinary teams ensuring the best service delivery.

You will provide effective obstetric and gynaecological services to women under supervision, while developing expertise in managing these women in a complex clinical environment.

Duties involve antenatal and gynaecology clinics, ward duties, caesarean section, and gynaecological lists.

We are seeking Unaccredited Trainees who are eager to develop professional skills to put them on the path of progressing to Accredited Obstetrics and Gynaecology Training.

  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
  2. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
  3. Adept ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.
  4. Adept written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and other members of the health care team.
  5. Adept good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  7. Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
