We are a regional Emergency Department (ED) with an annual attendance of 50,000 presentations and 25% are paediatric. It is the referral hospital for Central Queensland and sees a wide range of complex multi-speciality cases. There are 20 full time employee’s (FTE) Registrars/Principal House Officers, 8 Resident Medical Officers and 6 Interns covering the 24/7 roster.

About us:

Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland. Specialist Medical Services include Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care, Anaesthetics, Cardiology, General Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Haematology, Medical Oncology, Palliative Care, Radiation Oncology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Renal Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Surgery, Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgery, Orthopaedics, and Psychiatry. There are also a range of clinical services provided on a visiting basis from tertiary hospitals in Queensland. The Cancer Care Unit provides care for local patients, with state-of-the-art equipment and services.

About the role:

We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic, team-oriented Emergency Medicine Registrar or Principal House Officer to join our department. The role has the responsibility for assessing and managing patients presenting to the Emergency Department including assisting more junior Medical staff in managing their patients. The position will provide appropriate exposure and experience to enable the Doctor to attain the required skills and knowledge for that term in emergency medicine.

About you:

To be successful in this role you must have MBBS or equivalent to enable registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) at Level 3 supervision.

  • If qualifications were obtained outside Australia, the candidate must be eligible for registration with AHPRA with the appropriate supervision level and provide the following:
  • Evidence of successful completion of IELTS or equivalent English Language test results within the last year.
  • Evidence of successful completion AMC MCQ (part 1) examination.
  • Evidence of recency of clinical practice, supported by current references.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $145,865 p.a. (L9); $160,859 p.a. (L7); $146,469 p.a. (L4) is comprised of:

  • A salary between $125,808 - $145,865 p.a.(L4 – L9)
  • A salary between $125,808 - $138,571 p.a. (L4 – L7)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
