This is a Temporary Full Time 38 hours per week Maternity Relief position until 31 August 2024 with the possibility of extension at same/reduced hours. Job-Share is considered for this role.



What you'll be doing

The Domestic Family Violence and Sexual Assault Service (DFVSAS) is responsible for providing high quality clinical services and capacity building within ISLHD sexual assault and domestic violence portfolios.

The Clinical Psychologist role will provide specialist clinical psychology services to children, young people and their families, as well as adult clients who access DFVSAS, promoting optimal health outcomes consistent with Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) policies, procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.

Selection Critieria:

  1. Must be generally registered as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia with areas of practice endorsement in Clinical Psychology or eligibility to progress to endorsement and hold a current NSW Drivers Licence, with the ability to travel in accordance with position responsibilities.
  2. Demonstrated recent and relevant experience working with children, young people (and their families) and adults who have experienced sexual abuse and domestic violence (DFV) providing appropriate psychological assessment (including psychometric assessments), complex case formulation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychopathology.
  3. Advanced understanding of the dynamics and social, emotional and neurodevelopmental effects of sexual abuse & domestic violence and a commitment to integrated models for working with clients who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect.
  4. Extensive knowledge and understanding of childhood emotional, behavioural, developmental, and social problems and the ability to design and provide intervention and advice in the context of complex family relationships and the impacts of intergenerational trauma across the lifespan; adopting a culturally sensitive lens when supporting people from indigenous and/or culturally diverse backgrounds.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and experience using of range of integrated, systemic and trauma evidence based approaches to address the multiple and complex needs of individuals and families seen in a DFVSAS clinical setting and application of relevant legislation to clinical practice, including appropriate ethics and boundaries in this context.
  6. Effective written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  7. Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and manage stressful situations; problem solving, computer literacy, time management and organisational skills; ability to work unsupervised and apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel or critical nature.
  8. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities and service evaluation processes with other staff and demonstrated capacity to provide clinical supervision.
