About the role

The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) at Calvary Mater Newcastle provides care, comfort and support to patients in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, as directed by the Registered Nurse. The Assistant in Nursing (Casual Pool) is required to work across the Calvary Mater in diverse clinical settings including, Palliative Care, General Medicine and Medical Oncology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report all patient observations to the appropriate Registered Nurse.
  • Support to the nursing team in the delivery of nursing care in an acute care environment as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  • Provide direct care activities to patients in accordance with the nursing care plan and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality service.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Evidence of current enrolment in a Bachelor of Nursing degree, Diploma of Nursing or completion of Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Acute Care).
  • Demonstrates successful completion of all 1st Year Bachelor of Nursing subjects and 2nd year first semester subjects including acute care placement; or completion of 1st year of Diploma of Nursing, or satisfactory completion of Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Acute Care).
