  1. Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to Anatomical Pathology and Immunohistochemistry from a recognised tertiary institution.
  2. Demonstrable competencies in a high throughput diagnostic Immunohistochemistry laboratory including automated platforms, troubleshooting, optimisation, validation and verification of antibodies/probes and methods.
  3. Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical and laboratory staff, along with report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data and the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures
  4. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards and quality systems
  5. Demonstrable laboratory leadership, teamwork and organisational/management skills with the ability to oversee and provide a high quality, safe and timely service enhancing patient care.
  6. Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems
  7. Extensive high level knowledge of working within the relevant section of the laboratory with knowledge of the operation and maintenance of analytical equipment in a pathology laboratory
  8. Sound understanding of legislation, policies and requirements that impact the laboratory environment including work health and safety and privacy requirements

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases

This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand NSW Health Policy Directive PD2023_022 Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases. All recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. All recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.

All NSW Health workers are required to have two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, as defined by NSW Health.Employees working in a clinical area or are required to attend clinical areas are considered category A. Category A positions are required to provide evidence of having received three doses of COVID-19 vaccine in accordance with the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (TGA) and meet the requirements of theOccupational Assessment Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy Directive. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
