An exciting opportunity is currently available for an experienced Occupational Therapist - Senior to join the Fraser Coast Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit Team at the Hervey Bay Hospital within the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service. The Wide Bay area is arguably one of the most beautiful regions of Queensland. The Health Service stretches from Agnes Water in the North to Maryborough in the South and provides acute care services to a population of over 225,000 residents including several rural communities.

Eligible Applicants who move to Queensland from an interstate or international jurisdiction to take up permanent or temporary greater than 12 months employment may receive up to $20,000 incentive payments under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Scheme

Your opportunity: 

  • High level mental health and occupational therapy clinical services within a multidisciplinary team including intake and assessment, intervention and group work as required, in accordance with professional standards and legislation consistent with the Queensland Plan for Mental Health and the National Standards for Mental Health Services.
  • Work collaboratively with consumers and multidisciplinary professionals to provide high level clinical care and a therapeutic environment conducive to the dignity and wellbeing of consumers and carers within WBMHSS. Provide high level profession specific services, consultation and support, as required, within the team and service.
  • Provide expert advice on service delivery requirements during the review and redevelopment of the Fraser Coast Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit model of care, based on evidence based best practices.

Permanent Full Time (76 hours p.f.) or Permanent Part Time Positions (hours negotiable).

Prior to being made an offer of employment, you will be required to demonstrate immunity to the following Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD): Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (chicken pox) and Pertussis (whooping cough).

Our offer:

You will receive a competitive remuneration package value up to $152,776 p.a., comprising salary between $124,435 - $133,901 p.a. (f/t) or salary between $62.76 - $67.53 p.h. (p/t), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP4) (Permanent Full Time (76 hours p.f.) or Permanent Part Time Positions (hours negotiable) (Applications will remain current for 12 months).
