What you'll be doing

The position is part of the multi-disciplinary Child Adolescent Youth Mental Health Team located in Wollongong and provides evidence based assessment, information and treatment for children, adolescents and their families in the Illawarra district. This may involve brief interventions, assessment, initiating and managing planned treatment options, consultation and referral to other agencies for crisis management. It includes delivering a range of intervention strategies including individual, family, group work and early intervention programmes.

The role will involve conducting psychological research and evaluation of projects as required and collaborating with senior clinicians to implement research projects that can be disseminated and applied in clinical practice.

This is a temporary full time leave relief position from 17 June 2024 until 29 December 2024 with the possibility of extension.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.

Selection Criteria

  1. A Master's degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology or other recognised clinical area in psychology. The postgraduate qualifications must be of no less than two years full time duration (or part-time equivalent) and include professional clinical coursework, clinical training and supervised placement experience as core components.
  2. Extensive effective experience in mental health assessment, intervention and evaluation of clinical outcomes with diverse client populations.
  3. Extensive contemporary experience and knowledge of psychological evidence based practice in child and adolescent mental health.
  4. Effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and problem solving skills.
  5. Ability to work autonomously, provide supervision to students or other professionals and be part of a multidisciplinary team.
  6. Current unrestricted Class C driver's licence.
