An exciting opportunity is currently available for an experienced Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist or Senior Medical Officer (Palliative Care) to join the Cancer Care Services Team at the Bundaberg Hospital within the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service. The Wide Bay area is arguably one of the most beautiful regions of Queensland. The Health Service stretches from Agnes Water in the North to Maryborough in the South and provides acute care services to a population of over 200,000 residents including several rural communities.

Eligible Applicants who move to Queensland from an interstate or international jurisdiction to take up permanent or temporary greater than 12 months employment may receive up to $20,000 incentive payments under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Scheme

Your opportunity:

Provide specialist palliative care services within the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service (WBHHS) to patients as part of multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision of appropriate patient care. In addition, provide professional leadership within a specialist medical area and provide training, education and supervision to medical students, junior medical staff and other health care providers.

Prior to being made an offer of employment, you will be required to demonstrate immunity to the following Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD): Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (chicken pox) and Pertussis (whooping cough).

From 9th December 2019 all new employees will be required to be assessed for their risk of Tuberculosis (TB).  For further information regarding TB please visit Queensland Health website: Tuberculosis

Our offer:

You will receive a competitive remuneration package value up to $461,256 p.a., comprising salary between $176,802 - $258,910 p.a. (L13–L27), motor vehicle allowance, professional development allowance, professional development leave 3.6 weeks p.a., professional indemnity cover and private practice arrangements.  Overtime and on-call allowances will be negotiated with the successful applicant upon appointment. Superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) will be applied additionally to the total remuneration value. (Permanent Full Time, 80 hours p.f.)
