To facilitate smooth transition through the hospital system, as a Level 1/2 Inpatient Social Worker, you will provide patients and their carers experiencing emotional and practical impacts of illness with quality patient/client centred and trauma informed, psycho-social assessment, crisis and brief Intervention, counselling, case planning and access to appropriate community services.

You will play a pivotal role within a multidisciplinary team in order to ensure excellent patient care at every step of the process.

Participation in the on-call roster 1-2 times per month between the hours of 4:30pm & 8:00am Monday-Sunday & 8:00am - 4:30pm Saturday & Sunday is a requirement of this position.


About You

  • You possess tertiary qualifications in Social Work, with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) (overseas qualifications must supply the AASW Overseas Assessment number).
  • You have a demonstrated understanding of the current AASW Practice Standards as they relate to Inpatient Social Work.
  • You display a well-developed understanding the psychosocial issues that arise for patients and their families during chronic and acute illness and trauma. Demonstrated social work experience in the inpatient area of clinical specialty is preferred.
  • You hold demonstrated experience in providing psychosocial assessment and crisis management, brief intervention models that are culturally responsive, person centred and trauma informed and preferably within a health clinical setting.
