About the Role

Monash Health is looking to recruit an Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinical Nurse Consultant to support our patients, families, and carers

  • Manage the IBD helpline as the first point of contact for patients, families, and carers for all concerns related to IBD including but not limited to IBD flares, medication education, therapy management, referral to clinics
  • Provide clinical oversight and advisory to IBD ambulatory clinics including running a nurse led IBD clinic to address nursing needs of IBD patients and assist with transition along the continuum of care for inpatients to outpatients
  • A collaborative role within the Monash Health network involved in the coordination of nursing and healthcare within and across different models of care

This is anongoing, part-time position, 3 days a week (48 hours a fortnight).

About Us

Monash health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 25,500 people across a range of specialties. Our Gastroenterology Department consists of 35+ consultants who specialise in either Liver Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, or Endoscopy. We have dedicated administrative staff for each area who work alongside specialised clinical nurse consultants who are passionate about one of the key areas. The IBD Unit works closely with our Colorectal surgeons to provide a multidisciplinary approach to our patient care. The IBD Clinical Nurse Consultant is a key member of all of the above and is the first point of contact for all our IBD patients.

About You

You are a registered nurse with at least 5 years experience in acute nursing or an accomplished IBD nurse; either way, you are ready to take the next step in your career. You work well within a team and are also self-directed and demonstrate sound clinical decision making skills. You are passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence based nursing care to all patients. To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

  • committed to delivering patient centred care and patient advocacy
  • enthusiastic, compassionate and able to work collaboratively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to demonstrate excellent clinical assessment, problem solving, and organisational skills

What You Need:

  • An experience in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and/or Gastrointestinal/Colorectal Nursing is highly desirable
  • Clinical trials experience is a bonus
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Computer literacy with MS Office programs
  • Australian working rights
  • Australian Drivers Licence
