Monash Pathology

Monash Health Pathology is an integral part of Monash Health. It is the largest public provider of Pathology services in the state and currently operates 6 laboratories. The largest of these is located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, with additional laboratories located at the Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey, Victorian Heart Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospitals. There is currently 18 collection locations based within the hospital sites and community settings. Services are provided to the Public and Private sectors, and other laboratory services.

Medical Scientist Grade 1

This is an exciting time to join us as join our team as we work in partnership with Alfred Health to be the premier shared public pathology service in Victoria. As a member of the pathology team you will be helping shape the direction of this partnership.

Reporting to the Pathology Site Manager now hiring a Medical Scientist Grade 1 with relevant core laboratory training in Haematology, Chemical Pathology and Transfusion with Morphology training desirable. As an integral member and part of our pool of Medical Scientists and Laboratory Technicians within the Victorian Heart Hospital, this role will carry out established diagnostic tests as required, during the hours of operation of the laboratory, and in accordance with Monash Pathology protocols. Our Laboratory operates a 24 hour service and rostering flexibility is required including availability to work required shifts and being on call.

Permanent Part-Time (24 Hours per fortnight) and able to work across following shifts times:

0630-1500, 0800-1630, 0930-18:00, 1430-2300, 2230-0700

About You

A dedicated and highly motivated Medial Scientist with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

To ensure your success in this role, you will have following demonstrated skills, experience, and knowledge:

  • Degree in Science or Applied Science (MLS) or recognised equivalent
  • Ability to review coupled with interpretation skills in reviewing internal QC and troubleshoot.
  • Instrumentation including Beckman Coulter DxC700 AU, DxH690, Access 2, Radiometer ABL90, Werfen ACLTOP 350, Ortho Swift. Previous experience in these analysers is highly desirable
