Working clinically in the Liver Transplant State Wide Service within the Social Work Surgical Team.

About the role:

As a Grade 2 Social Worker you will be responsible for providing clinical social work services to referred liver transplant and surgical patients and families. A regular day will see you work clinically with patients, attend family meetings and non clinical meetings, and undertake other duties that support the social work department and its operations.

Key responsibilities will see you:

  • apply your social work knowledge and skills to assess, treat and plan the discharge of patients
  • provide counselling to patients and families
  • supervise grade 1 social workers
  • supervise social work students
  • undertake psychosocial transplant workup assessment
  • participate in quality improvement, service improvement and/or research

You must have:

  • a degree in Social Work and
  • ideally have worked in a health related setting
  • ability to work and contribute to team culture and work within a multidisciplinary environment
