About The Opportunity
Bankstown hospital has an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic group of midwives within the Birthing Unit and Maternity.

Midwifery at Bankstown hospital enables midwives to work to their full scope of practice, via rotations into midwifery continuity of care models, and rotations throughout the maternity service if requested.

The care available to women and families and the options for growth and development for midwives is endless and amongst the best in NSW. The midwifery team is supportive of empowering mothers in their pregnancies, labour and postpartum periods, and seek to allow mothers to have natural, safe and informed births.

The midwifery team are supportive in ensuring growth and development for the team. Senior management are readily available to speak with and want to ensure each individual midwife succeeds in their career. At Bankstown Hospital, you will get hands on experience with high rates of normal birth, and experience with high-risk pregnancies and births.

What You'll Be Doing

The midwife is a responsible and accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct births on the midwife's own responsibility and to provide care for the newborn and the infant. This position may entail working through Birthing Unit and Maternity Ward.

Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is located in the city of Bankstown and is in one of the most multicultural local government areas (LGA) in Australia. This hospital has tertiary affiliations with three universities and offers a range of roles and experiences to employees.

The hospital receives highly diverse presentations in ED as well as having general medical and surgical services and sub-specialty services across the hospital. How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  2. Demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Midwife in an environment appropriate to the relevant specialty
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
  4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, families, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
  5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
  6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based midwifery care
  7. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
