Te whiwhinga mahi| The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced New Zealand registered Physiotherapist to join our Physiotherapy team within Neurosurgery. This is a Senior, permanent, full-time role based at Auckland Hospital and offers the opportunity to develop your clinical and leadership capabilities and work within a great team including Occupational Therapist, Speech-Language Therapist and the wider Interdisciplinary team.

  • Managing a clinical caseload providing comprehensive and evidence-based care to neurosurgical patients within the high dependency unit and acute ward
  • Working collaboratively in an IDT
  • Driving quality improvement within the neurosurgical area
  • Providing clinical and operational leadership to junior staff
  • Being prepared to take on delegated responsibilities from the practice supervisor as required
  • You will also be required to participate in our weekend and on-call roster

This role sits within the acute surgical team and encompasses the management of patients with a wide range of presentations including but not limited to, trauma, traumatic brain injuries, subarachnoid haemorrhages, tumour resections and spinal surgeries.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

As the ideal person for this role you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • New Zealand registration as a Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • 5+ years postgraduate experience with 2-3 years of experience in this or a similar clinical area
  • Proven experience in student supervision / teaching and training
  • Excellent clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence informed practice
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary bicultural environment
  • Effective time management, prioritisation and organisation skills
  • A flexible, pro-active approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
