Clinical Nurse Consultant/Specialist

Townsville Hospital and Health Service is seeking a Clinical Nurse to join the Mental Health Service Group on a Permanent full-time basis In the Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team.

Eligible health workers who make the move (interstate or international) to work with us may receive up to $20,000 in incentive payments under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme (conditions apply).

About your opportunity
The Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team (MIRT) is a highly flexible and responsive recovery orientated multidisciplinary service, aimed at improving the quality of life for people with complex mental health needs that would benefit from more intensive support to maintain community living. 

It provides psychosocial rehabilitation to consumers with a goal of building on personal strengths, achieving recovery goals and improving health/illness management. 

The Clinical Nurse provides direct nursing services, including assessment, planning, treatment and case management, for people involved in the Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team (MIRT) within a multidisciplinary environment, in accordance with professional standards and legislation consistent with the 10 Year Mental Health Strategy for Queensland and the National Standards for Mental Health Services.

Role requirements:

  • Bachelor of Nursing qualification + current AHPRA registration.
  • Current 'C' class motor vehicle licence.
  • Highly Desirable:
    • Credentialed status (or willingness to undertake and complete the requirements) with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses.
    • Possession of or working towards a relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing would be well regarded
    • While not mandatory, eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016 would be well regarded.

Generous remuneration package value up to $132,289 p.a. comprising salary range of $107,960 to $115,604 p.a. (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1), 17.5% leave loading, 12.75 % employer contribution to superannuation.

  • Proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at an advanced level within a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with team members, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks to achieve work unit outcomes.
  • Ability to provide nursing leadership in the clinical and professional setting including the role modelling of effective communication and problem solving.
  • Proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position in order to achieve outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Proven ability to provide clinical education and support at an advanced level and demonstrate own professional development.
