We have several exciting opportunities for suitably qualified Registered Nurses (Grade 2) in our Special Care Nursery.Reporting to the Maternity Unit Manager, the Registered Nurse will demonstrate competence in the provision of nursing care, make decisions regarding patient care and actively participate in quality improvement activities. The successful applicant will be required to work on a 24/7 rotational roster. Shifts patterns also include a trial of 12 hour shifts on an opt in basis. We have permanent part time, full time and casual positions available with hours negotiated upon appointment.

Our Maternity service provides pregnancy care to up to 1000 women and their families per year. Staff have the ability to rotate throughout the service on a daily basis to optimise continuity of care, and working within your full scope of practice. Staff are supported by our education team with one-on-one learning, in-service education and tailored learning as necessary.

Our preferred candidate will have:

  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Demonstrated sound level of midwifery skills and works within safe practice principles
  • Understanding of and commitment to the Baby Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI)
  • Understanding of current midwifery practice, including the Department of Health’s Victorian Maternity and Newborn Services Framework
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Minimum of 3-5 Years’ experience, post registration in the provision of care in a Special Care Nursery or similar environment.
  • Post graduate qualifications in neonatal care or working towards the same.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Be flexible to meet the daily requirements and changing needs of the Maternity Unit.

IMPORTANT: All staff employed in the healthcare sector are required to be fully (3 doses) vaccinated for COVID-19 and influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
