About the role

The Infection Control and Surveillance nurse position is an exciting opportunity for a motivated nurse to join the GH Horsham Infection Prevention and Control team.You will be exposed to all aspects of infection control in a supportive environment and be mentored by experienced infection control consultants. Experience gained in this role will be of great advantage to your nursing career.

This position initially covers maternity leave however there is the potential to continue in the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Surveillance and targeted surgical procedures
  • Data collection, input and analysis to systems such as VICNISS and Chris21
  • Participation in Risk management activities and promotions of safe effective work practices
  • Support quality improvement and opportunities for driving innovation that support a safe workplace

Skills and experience

  • Be eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and hold a current Practicing Certificate
  • Computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to practice independently and interdependently
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, clinical risk management and evidence based practice
  • Holder of a current Victorian Drivers license

Desirable, but not essential:

  • Hand hygiene auditor or willing to be trained as an auditor
