Bankstown - Lidcombe Hospital is recruiting for a Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services (Nurse Manager Grade 8) to join the Senior Leadership Team.

The Director of Nursing & Midwifery (DNM) is operationally responsible to the General Manager & professionally responsible to the Executive Director of Nursing & Midwifery, SWSLHD. The DNM is a member of the senior executive team of the facility providing leadership & is responsible for the overall management & clinical practice of Nursing & Midwifery Services in Bankstown - Lidcombe Hospital.

The DNM will provide effective leadership, governance & operational management for Nursing and Midwifery Services at the facility, ensuring procedure, practice, professional development & research are planned, delivered & evaluated in line with South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) strategic priorities.

The role will provide guidance & support to ensure that there is a focus on service development & appropriate oversight of practices, trends & indicators. Ongoing assessment & improvement in operational processes & clinical outcomes is an inherent responsibility of this position.

The DNM is responsible for the supervision, coordination & management of the nursing services and/or operations to ensure the delivery of high quality consistent patient care, efficient use of resources &staff who conform to all contemporary practice standards.

The DNM is to foster & maintain close professional relationships with relevant clinical managers, peers & District managers to achieve organisational goals.

As a nursing senior manager it is essential to ensure that systems and processes are in place to support the Nursing/Midwifery Unit Managers to meet the standards outlined in the Nursing and Midwifery management Framework.

This position will support the SWSLHD Strategic Plan as well as the facility/service operational and/or clinical service plan & any relevant service operational or strategic plans.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), post graduate qualifications in management, leadership or equivalent, as deemed appropriate by SWSLHD and Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
  2. Demonstrated senior nursing experience with experience in leading staff and managing services in a relevant setting.
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead through vision and articulate the potential for the organisation.
  4. Demonstrated ability to develop an environment which promotes continuous improvement in practice.
  5. Demonstrated ability to represent nursing and midwifery, and appropriately consult with staff and other health professionals through utilising a broad range of communication skills selectively in a variety of settings.
  6. Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate and incorporate where appropriate emerging trends within the broader service and business industry, which has the potential to enhance nursing, midwifery and/or health services.
  7. Demonstrated ability to monitor and evaluate performance across the organisation and through collaboration, including other health facilities and outside of health, to identify opportunities to realise enhanced performance.
  8. Demonstrated ability to generate and develop the strategic plan of the organization, inclusive of implementation of organisational change, financial management, risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
  9. Demonstrated ability to drive a positive workplace culture in accordance with NSW Health Code of Conduct and values of SWSLHD.
