At Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) we provide a range of public health services to the Riverina and Murray regions of New South Wales; across a geographic area of approximately 125,631 square kilometres. With around 241,000 residents living within our District, we employ approximately 4,000 staff who work within our 31 hospitals and community facilities.


A Visiting Medical Officersis required to provide GP Non Procedural services at Corowa Health Service. The VMO will provide a high level of clinical care to patients and participate in the on call roster.You will possessqualifications in FRACGP or FACRRM

Murrumbidgee Local Health Districtrequires Visiting Medical Officers to participate in service and policy development as well as an involvement with education, training and quality projects activities. Corowa Health Serviceis a 55 bed facility including 31 residential aged care, 18 acute, 3 ED and 1 Resuscitation bed. Services include acute, medical, emergency, surgical and aged care. There are also a range of community health nursing and allied health services including physiotherapy, OT, dietetics, speech pathology and drug and alcohol counselling are also provided onsite.

  1. A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the RACGP/ ACRRM/RACP and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
  2. Minimum three (3) years post graduate clinical experience. Previous experience in Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or Rural Medicine an advantage.
  3. Knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Competence in performing the range of minor urgent procedures commonly undertaken in a rural emergency department including Advanced Life Support and Trauma management
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, and research and quality improvement.
  6. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
