Gold Coast Health is looking for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist to join the Waijungbah Jarjums service.

An opportunity has become available for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Obstetrics and Gynaecology - Identified) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10,000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

About the role

Provide culturally safe clinical specialist Obstetrics support to the Waijungbah Jarjums service, making a substantial contribution to the development of a culture of culturally safe medical education and safe, patient centered clinical practice. 

Requirements for the role

  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B.
  • Tuberculosis screening - to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
  • MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FRANZCOG or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and registrable as a Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  • Strong clinical and community experience in working collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Training and/or experience in providing culturally safe care for First Nations clients.

Salary information

  • Permanent part time (16 hours per fortnight)
  • Estimated total remuneration up to $96,976 p.a., comprising:
    • Senior Staff Specialist: Base hourly rate from $117 - $124.05 p.h
    • Staff Specialist: Base hourly rate from $97.84 - $113.65 p.h
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • Motor vehicle allowance
  • Professional development allowance
  • Granted private practice rights
