Occupational Therapist

The purpose of this role is to apply Occupational Therapy skills and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of clients in the local population in order to promote, maintain and improve their health, functional ability and quality of life.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to apply Occupational Therapy skills and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of clients in the local population in order to promote, maintain and improve their health, functional ability and quality of life. The Post Acute Care Service (PACS) provides a post-acute hospital avoidance response to people who are discharged from hospital or who present to emergency departments and are not admitted or referred by GP or QAS and do not require hospital admission. Short term multi-disciplinary interventions are provided to address immediate care needs. Services are provided in-home or clinic based. PACS operates seven days a week including public holidays with extended opening hours – 0730 hours to 1800 hours. Further extension of operating hours may occur based on client and hospital and health service need in the future.

Knowledge, skills and expertise

Clinical Practice

  • Demonstrates recognised expertise and knowledge in Acute and Community practice to provide professional level clinical care with increasing independence as experience builds.

Communication

  • Demonstrates the ability to build and maintain effective client and professional relationships in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills.

Leadership and Management

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and participate in quality improvement activities with support from more experienced clinicians.
