Dental Assistant

Metro South Oral Health Service is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Dental Assistants for future temporary part- time opportunities over the next 3 months. The Dental Assistant position is responsible for providing a high standard of dental assistance to the work performance of dental teams that are responsible for the provision of a high standard of general and specialist oral health care to all clients.

Metro South Oral Health is the largest public provider in the State. It delivers a comprehensive range of services to an eligible adult population and children and adolescents from four (4) years of age until the completion of Year 10 in secondary school.

The service provides family centred and paediatric primary oral health care and a range of secondary and specialist care from 17 different facilities. About the Role

  • Preparation of equipment, instruments and materials utilised in a variety of dental procedures including knowledge and understanding of the stages within a dental procedure and the ability to pre-plan and adapt as treatment proceeds and perform four-handed dentistry, chair-side assistance, and surgery management of stock.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer systems (ISOH), electronic records using FDI, Palmers Notation, dental specific language and terminology, and forensic charting.
  • Provide general advice about personal oral hygiene, when requested by operator and reiterate pre- and post-operative advice provided by operator.
  • Ensure equipment and the surgery meet with the current infection control standards through utilising standard/universal precautions, preparation of disinfectants, decontamination procedures, utilise protocol for managing blood and body substance spills.

The Process

This Expression of Interest collects a variety of information that will help identify potentially suitable applicants for future temporary employment opportunities.
